Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow....
Put it this way...Kate's got her thermals on today.Since the last time we wrote we went to 'Stand Up New York' after being harassed by 'sexy Dave' in the street to buy (more) tickets. We got the subway up to 79th Street after being serenaded by Irvin (the Danish wonder who has released a single back home in Denmark...ok, it actually was quite good), and then ran through the rain only to pay a lot of money for our first drinks. FOOLISHLY we thought this would be included in the stupid 2 drink minimum, but no. So we took our seats next to 'the odd couple' and watched Mary, the MC, F her way through the intro. We managed to escape getting picked on.
After our 2 drink minimum we (drunkenly) decided to stay for the Midnight show, 2 hours later. In the mean time we thought we'd go to the upmarket bistro that is McDonalds for some chips and to take advantage of the dollar menu. However, this was a mistake....we thought we'd be exotic and go for the chicken fajita, which turned out to be "dog sick wrapped in a tasty tortilla" (Kate Wilde, 14/01/06).
We headed back to the club to find a very 'different' crowd. Yes...we were the ethnic minority. This time, we didn't avoid getting picked on. We tried to argue with the 'comic' that British policemen DID NOT have whistles.....
Comic: "Oi there's some people over there with Sunderland jerseys...come on 'Chocolate', let get them.....and then we were followed by 'cops' with a stick and a whistle"
Kate: (loudly) "LIES!"
Comic: "Nice???"
Kat and Kate: (even louder) "LIES!"
Comic: "Eyes???"
Kat and Kate: (louder still) "LIES!"
Comic: "Lies!? What do you mean?!"
Kat: "WE'RE BRITISH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
and then he started taking the piss.
We left the club to find that it was snowing so decided to get a cab home to eat our left over pizza!
We both awoke feeling a little fragile the following morning so we decided on a lazy day (even Irvin was up and out before us). It was very cold and Kat needed some new gloves so we went to the mecca that is Filenes Basement and waited til 4pm when the Subway offer kicked in.
Then we raided a modest sized Duane Reade for Cadburys chocolate and magazines (on Nick and Jessica).
In the city that never sleeps, we were having a day off and Kat is still crap at sudoku.
